Description:

This instrument provides a method to evaluate the leveling performance of newly applied coatings before curing, so as to reduce or eliminate the coating surface streaks caused by brushing or other coating. This specially designed film applicator is used to evaluate the leveling performance, which is similar to the evaluation of roll coating method, but more stable than roll coating. As there are various factors affecting the leveling and sagging, the tests of these properties should not be confused. The leveling test is conducted on the horizontal test plate, which is not the measurement of the sagging performance.

The leveling tester is a U-shaped coating machine with a shallow gap on one side. A group of five pairs of narrow V-shaped grooves with equal spacing are cut in the gap. Their groove depths are 100, 200, 300, 500 and 1000 respectively μ M U.M.

The two ends of the leveling instrument are 120mm long and can be coated with 100mm drag film at one time.

The dragging shall be carried out on the horizontally placed test plate or paper jam according to the normal procedure. It produces 5 pairs of 10 coating marks with different depths. After the coating film is dried, observe the distance between each pair of films, and select the film thickness with the smallest spacing (i.e. when the two stripes are close together, there is a gap in the middle where the spacing is indistinctly visible) as the leveling data.Paint Testing Equipment
